The Mall, Walthamstow

Located on Selborne Road, in the heart of Walthamstow, and adjacent to the 17&Central Shopping Centre, Long Harbour is starting construction on 495 new homes for private rent.

Consisting of one and two-bedroom apartments within two landmark towers of 34 and 26 storeys, the development will also incorporate an expansive ground floor entrance and amenity space, including a publicly accessible reception with dedicated concierge, lounge area, and ground floor café. The development will also feature resident amenity spaces on the upper floors, including a lounge, shared kitchen area for events, and a roof terrace.

Update

We wanted to provide an update on the status of construction work at The Mall. We are pleased to confirm that all demolition work has now been completed, including works relating to the piling and foundations. The demolition work being finished also enabled us to concrete the basement last week. We are pleased to say that project remains on schedule and is due for completion by summer 2025.

Local residents can now expect the structures to be erected between now and October, at which point the first modules are due to arrive and be craned in. As our contractor Tide Construction is utilising modular construction techniques, approximately 100% of the apartment modules will be completed off-site. We know from other projects that this building technique mitigates the noise, the number of trades on site, and disturbance to the local community.

Separately, we’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the concerns of some local residents and community groups about construction work at The Mall. Fire safety is our highest priority from the outset in all our developments and are working in line with the London Plan Policy to ensure the design, construction, and occupation complies with and excels building safety regulation.

We’d like to reassure all residents in the local community that we are, along with our contractor Tide Construction, working closely with Waltham Forest Borough Council and the London Fire Brigade to ensure all ongoing work is compliant with all regulatory processes.

We will continue to cooperate with the London Fire Brigade and Council so that the process is conducted as effectively as possible, and hope to provide a more substantial update when the review is complete.

Finally, we are really pleased that Tide Construction are working with members of the local community amid ongoing demolition and construction work, such as supporting the ‘Waltham Forest Borough Road Safety Community Chart’ campaign. The campaign aims to combat the prevalence of dangerous and inappropriate drivers in the vicinity of schools. Through its support, Tide Construction have ensured campaign posters are distributed and visible across the whole Borough.
